Roof Water Harvesting for Low Impact Water Supply is a great e book that features the Brazilian Ball Pre-Filter System: A Case Study as well as several great pictures of roof catchment systems that are replicable in most situations.  It is full of great diagrams, pictures and resources.  A must read for anyone installing a rain catchment system.

This article gives an excellent background on the history and evolution of the permaculture movement.  It gives us a good sense of how people have related to permaculture since it's inception as well as some excellent resources of how people are applying permaculture.  This is a great background for those of you who may be new to the permaculture concept as well as  great refresher to those of you who would like to learn more about the history.

I wanted to post this article this month about bioremediation just to show how miraculous it is that the digestive power of mycelium can feed off of and decompose toxic wastes and pollutants and the cell walls in plants can purify black water.   It seems as though nature knew that human kind would get into this mess and need to do the work to clean up.

I have been keeping chickens throughout my life.  I have many fond childhood memories of going out in the morning excited to collect eggs and feed the chickens.  Chickens have so many purposes and benefits in a permaculture system and I often give the example of the permaculture principle: The Yield of the System is Theoretically Unlimited when talking about chickens.  The only limit on the number of uses of a resource possible within a system lies within a lack of information and the imagination of the designer.
