Each month, EarthActionMentor.org will make a visit to an Earth Mentor. The interviews and stories from these visits will be provided here for our members to gain access to the incredible wisdom Earth Mentors have to offer.
Earth Mentor wisdom is invaluable and often hard to come by. When I was traveling throughout Africa, studying tracking with some of the indigenous masters of this dying art, I noticed there was no transferring of this knowledge to the next generation. The master trackers, most of them in the later part of their lives, offered no explanation for this. I watched as this art and knowledge was being held in existence by a thread. A friend, Mark Elbroch, author and wildlife tracker, has a strong relationship with these trackers. He commented that if some of these elders die, there is no one to take their place, and the knowledge will die with them.
We now have the opportunity to capture this knowledge from mentors such as these and put their lifetimes of work and knowledge into practice. Are you ready to take on what these mentors have to offer?
